When the transmission was removed to replace the clutch they had separate the link the shifter. There is rectangular rubber block where they separated the linkage. It molded to a metal plate which gets secured to the linkage shaft to the transmission. This fusion of rubber to metal separates way before 150,000 miles, and should have been replaced when the transmission was out. It's a real stinker to do otherwise. A $5.00 to $10.00 part with about $40.00 in labor (Small-town labor rates). If it was the hydraulic system, your clutch disengagement would be real close to the floor and probably very little springiness to feel of the pedal since the clutch was just recently replaced. ---------- In article <379F63EE.B59FDDE6nopsamell.net>, Robert Lee <lggroupnopsamell.net> wrote: > Could some give me advice on 1986 9000 Turbo 5 speed: > Mileage at 160,000 miles. > Replace clutch at 156.,0000 > > I could not engage the clutch to go from first to second, all the other > gears work fine on the freeway......But when I got home the transmission > shifter will not engage in any gear..Could I have blown a transmission > or just a loose linkage....... > > Where do I look to solve the problem. > > I would appreciate if you guide me in the right direction. > > Bob > >
