Subject: Re: Buying a 1990 Saab 9000

I just bought a 89 9000S after much shopping around. It needs brake pads and some minor A/C work but –drove it from NY to Houston and it drove great. I also went with the non-turbo for the reason of less maintenance costs. I dare say owners of 9000 Turbos tend to push the car more leading to more problems later. I also owned a 900 (base model) a few years back and it was indestructible. I'd suggest that car over the 9000. The 9000 is more of a Euro-lux car and has alot of electronic stuff that can go wrong and needs to be replaced. The 900 is more basic. I paid $3800 for my 9000 and it had 92K on it. It was a good price I felt.
