Mike - can it be done? Of course. Does it make sense? It depends - f you simply want a new or used late-model Saab, I'd say it doesn't - first, prices are significantly higher for automobiles in Sweden than in the US. Second, the shipping (boat, freight) is likely to be $2000 from Malmo to a coastal port in the US, at which point you'll have to pay US duty (even if you weren't able to get a refund of the tax in Sweden, the US will still insist you pay them), and then will also need to pay to have it inspected for DOT compliance (won't be a problem, but you still have to do it). If you're interested in an older Saab from Sweden, again, the higher cost may make it more effective to look for the same in the US - the only difference between Swedish and US spec Saabs is the addition of fender turn indicators and headlamp washer/wipers, which can be added easily to any US spec Saab. If you're looking for a specific model or car, you may want to arrange it through many of the European speciality importers - look in the back of auto magazines or Hemmings - they tend to get substantially better (aggregate) shipping rates, and are usually certified as Customs clearing agents, saving you a lot of time, and probably money, from trying to do everything yourself. lycka till! gregory -- + gregory trimper + trimpernopsama.com + halmstad, sweden + + http://www.viika.com/ + In article <7n209u$svu$1nopsam1.deja.com>, beermichaelnopsameja.com wrote: > I am interested in seeing if it makes sense to buy a Saab in Sweeden and > import in back to US.
