Pete, Buy a metric setup from Sears. One of those "bundled" sets they sell in the Sunday flyer. For $1000 you can get plenty of tools and decent boxes. With a lifetime guaranty. Get plenty of sockets and wrenches. Stay away from much of the other hack saws and hammers and such. As a Saab mechanic for many years I have always used craftsman tools. Many of my colleagues use snap on. They are probably a little better tool, more ergonomic, better finish. But they have the same guaranty, do the same work, and Snap On costs about 6 times as much.
