May have to do with government requirments or just the marketplace > but I think all US Saabs have all the bags. > Yes, must be something like that. The US have much more strict schemes regarding safety, emission and such than Europe, as far as I know. Also, cars in the US are a lot cheaper than in the old continent. Over here, we have to add 21% VAT, then add this special 'start-up' tax (which can go up to $5000, depending on the Bhp or CC), then the yearly 'road-tax', then add some radio-tax, etc... All in all, one would think you would get like a zillion airbags for this money, but no... >> > Has anyone mentioned the word 'lemon?' What I mean is that the car may be a lemon. Is there no recourse that > the dealer must respond to? Can you not demand a replacement when there's > such consistent failure? How about contacting Saab directly? > This is Belgium, man. Anything goes...but most things don't. I'll probably end up *paying* for a replacement car while mine is in service. I mean, if this famous Saab Europe Assistance tells you to deal with it yourself when you ask for help when your front window is broken, what do you do ? Shoot them ?! Nope, I do not expect much from the garage...but I definitely _will_ contact Saab directly if they don't get my car up to specs... For instance, my car was delivered 2 weeks too late and without the leather upholstery which was promised. The Saab dealer knew very well that I had a business appointment just after the car _should_ have been delivered. So, what do I do ? I write their financial manager, stating that I had to reschedule my appointment(s), and that they did not come through on what they promised (even on paper). So, I kinda ask for some compensation of some sort. He simply says "No, that is not company policy" -- end of story... I know it's sad, but what can I do ? Oh well, back to be a lemon, I guess. ;+/ Or drive a lemon. -= Guy DD __________________________ Annex Hypermedia Design http://www.annex.be __________________________ And a slice of life http://www.annex.be/life __________________________ New version 6.6 is online !
