Subject: Re: HELP: Audio/Power cabling for a '95 Saab 900/II SE convertible?

I ran power cable down the left side of the car. There is a hole in the wall that you can use if you don't mind the effort. In the engine bay, remove the fuse box (one bolt on the outside edge, one clip underneath the rubber seal - lift up carefully). You can see the clutch cable clearly, and just underneath is a taped up grommet with a wiring harness running through. You can poke a power cable through that with some patience (you'll have to remove the trim pieces from the drivers side to pull it through). Then run it under the door sills (just pry/pop them off - some of the clips may be stiff, but if they pull out you can get them with pliers anyway). You can pull the carpet out from under the B pillar and get the cable through there easily. Then just pull off the door trim, fold down the rear seat back and poke it through to the trunk. There is another hole in the firewall on the other side of the car, close to the top. A lot easier to access - but not ideal if you want to run RCAs down the right side of the car... The Clarion CDC-634/ or CDC-635 connects right up to the head unit with a pre run cable that goes down the left side of the car to the trunk. It's a 13-pin DIN plug. You may have to pull the radio and connect it behind the head unit as well. What do you mean be "cinch cables"? I ran my RCAs down the right side of the car. The door speakers are a pain. There is a socket plug with empty holes and if your speaker wire fits through there then use that - it's a bit of work, but it's very clean. Otherwise, you'll have to drill and use a grommet. It's supposed to be 6.5" in the doors, but I couldn't get my SAS component woofers to fit, so I had to go 5.25 in the doors - hope you've got better luck. FYI, after I went through all this, I had (and still have) a LOT of noise (alternator whine). I haven't been able to find a fix after a number of attempts (and tips from rec.audio.car). Are you keeping the factory head unit? If so, you'll need an adapter that converts the 8pin DIN to RCAs. Check out: http://www.ultranet.com/~bevanrl/saab/audio.html Good luck - it's WELL WORTH THE EFFORT!!!! What a difference!
