The weak point of this engine is that the 2 DOHC are belt-carried (no >chain, such as Saab 2.0 and 2.3 engines). The belt has to be changed every >35,000 miles. In US, it is replaced by Saab 3 times for free, at 35K, 70K >and 105K miles. Luc- thank you for the specs! Other questions (not being all that up to date on engine terminology...): the timing belt and the serpentine belt are two different belts? If so how do I look at the timing belt to determine wear? Also- do I just ask for the belt replacement at 70 and 105 or will they do it without prompting? TJ Gilmore '95 900SE I LOVE my 1st Saab!
