I live on a very busy street which has alot of accidents. My house is situated right on a hair-pin curve, so they happen about 12-15 times a year. One man swiped another car, not that bad, but enough to deploy his airbag. It went in his face so he couldn't see where he was going and ended up driving smack into a retaining wall. He totaled his car. I know he wouldn't have totaled it if the air bad hadn't deployed. > > Third, my airbag is HUGE. WHY? If my Saab had an air bag, I would get it taken out without a hesitation. > My friend has a 900S convertible with an older-style steering wheel like > my '88 9000S had and his has an airbag in it... I was so impressed when I got in my accident. I was going about 50mph and had only about 20 ft to stop. Of course I didn't make it, but that Saab held it's own, it didn't waffle or spin out of control. The brakes are excellent, even though I left half of my tires on the pavement. > > Does anyone know if/when the new, more "non toxic" type of airbags > are/will be available? I don't know??? I am small, and NO I don't have my seat pulled all the way up to the steering wheel, my legs aren't that short. I have no problem with the clutch. I don't want an airbag in my face when I crash, I'm sure it would hurt me more than help me. Saabs are tuff cars. I wouldn't mind a side air bag, but NOT one in my steering wheel. Also if I had an infant, I would feel very nervous about having it in back where I can't see it. I pay all that money for a vehicle, I should be able to use it how I please.
