The cheesy headlight wipers are there for a reason, on wet rainy days here in the UK if you try driving on a motorway at night the amount of dirt and grime which is kicked up soo obscures the headlights and renders them a lot dimmer. The saab has the wipers so all you need is one flick and the headlights are clean again.
