Subject: Re: Thinking ahead: good snow tires for Viggen?

I have been mulling over snow tires for my 9-3 SE and my concern is mixing the performance for snow versus the performance on dry road. 90% of the time they will be driven on the road. I don't drive like an Andretti but I do like to do some corners and speed on occaision. With only front wheel drive you need good performing snow tires here in Colorado (in the mountains). I wish there was more comparison of the "Ultra Performance All Season" to a true snow tire. My friend just put the former on his car, he chose the Yoko AVS S4 Zs. He has an Audi A4 Quattro. They perform quite well on dry so far. They were the highest rated snow performing tire of the group. That is his only set of tires. You can't get a 50 series tire in any of them, a few of them do come in 17" rims I think. Since you have a Viggen I am guessing you are not driving miss Daisy so this will be an issue for you as well. Let me know what you find out. I think I am leaning towards the Gislaveds and sacrificing a couple months of dry performance. I will be going to the mountains every weekend so I would like some security there. It is my first year without a Jeep. I have to admit I am a little nervous. L8r JO
