Well, I did it. Went out and leased a '99 9-3 SE HO Turbo; silver with black interior. Have been playing with it (gently for the first few hundred miles, of course) and love it. It took a while for my manual transmission skills to get up to speed - I was too used to driving trucks when young and had to adjust to something that can go faster in 3rd than the old truck did! Have to say that the transmission is very light and easy to manage with a bit of practice. Haven't had troubles finding any gears, and to my hand it has a nice feel. Quick impressions: very enjoyable to drive, the tires stick to curves like glue, steering wheel is steady and has a great feel. It's a little rough on some of Chicago's not-so-smooth roads, but would rather have that than a lot of sway in the turns. Like I said, haven't taken it out and let loose too much, but love what I've seen so far. Can't address concerns that it won't handle too well when winter comes, but I'm going to wait and see when the snow flies. I might be in the market for a set of snow wheels at that time! The rest of it is elegant and well made. Took it out during the night the first day I had it and tried the 'night panel' function and loved only having the speedometer to look at outside of the road. Don't want to turn this into a plug for any dealer, but felt I was dealt with fairly and compentently by the West Suburban Auto Group near Chicago. Didn't hurt that Saab was giving away the great incentives that they are at the moment. -- --Alan... Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Share what you know. Learn what you don't.
