You know.....I'm thinking about this and remembering my father teaching me how to drive. First I drove a tractor, then he said if I wanted to drive I wasn't allowed to drive his car, I'd have to drive his truck. It was a '70 Chev pick-up with posi and three speed on the column. I hated the thing, the steering wheel was as big as me and I kept shifting from first to reverse instead of second and he's yell and scream his head off. Whenever I stopped on a hill, I'd be so afraid of rolling back that I'd burn out. I got yelled at for going through tires too fast, the friction point was just so low on that thing. But, I learned how to use the posi to my advantage after a while. Anyway, after about a year of that, I had saved up some $$$ and he was helping me find a car and I had my sites set on a GTO, but he said no way parts are too hard to find. To make a long story short, I ended up with an ugly 1973 Buick Le Sabre, but it had a great motor and could move. The thing was huge! I used the dash for a bar. Looking back, I see he did the right thing, now I can drive practically anything, and I know he was concerned about me being safe.....too bad he didn't know about Saabs back then! So.....your daughter really doesn't know how lucky she is, but she should learn to drive a standard. Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Share what you know. Learn what you don't.
