Subject: Re: Strut Recommendations for '94 900SE?

I've got a set of Monroe's on my 96 900T... pretty damned fine but probably not too terribly much better than the factory. The Monroe's seem to be a little less harsh, but definitely transmit a lot more "road-feel" to the steering wheel. This gives you a handling edge that I never felt with the factory struts... personally I'd trade off good precise handling for smooth floaty ride any day of the week... that's why I drive a 900T :)) Seriously though, it's really a matter of what you want to do with the car. There's not a lot of after-market struts available... actually the Monroe's were the only aftermarkets I could find (as I recall the factory are Bilsteins). I went with them because I'd used Monroe's on my old Subaru SVX and thought they were great. You might take some harshness out of the ride if you want by going with softer struts as found in the 900S (non turbo), and maybe put some different wheels on that'll take some 205-60-15 tires instead of the 205-50-16's you're probably riding on now. Those '50 series low-profile tires are really what give you the harshness. Goto http://www.saabcatalog.com where you can pick up some nice "factory" wheels for your 900 that'll look stock and take the higher-profile touring tires. I'm thinking about ordering a set to put some touring tires on for the winter... I don't need snow tires because it doesn't usually snow THAT much in St. Louis :) -- Gavin Haslett thumper_svxnopsamo.com http://home.earthlink.net/~hackrat "Ahhhh...
