Subject: confused 99 or 900

Hi, I own a 1983 Saab 99 GL 5 speed for about 51/2 years now. I am a bit confused at the moment for i am thinking of letting it go for a 900 turbo 16v(really not sure yet). I think a 900 is more comfortable (less noise, powersteering,ac,faster etc.). I'm pushed to a decision because my front brakes are really noisy and bad and my engine(H) (151000 miles) really makes a lot of noise from 2800 rpm and higher (raw sound). So i have a few questions: 1. Does anyone have experience from going from a 99 to a 900 turbo 16v. Is it worth it (economical, fun etc.)? 2. This raw sound from the engine is it repairable(what is it??)? I hear that 151000 miles is not so much for this type of engine!!! 3. The brakes: do i need new ones or junkyard or easy revisable? 4. Does anyone have experience with sound isolation in his 99?? I mean in engine-compartment, wheel houses, hood and dashboard. What material(is it worth it?). 5. In relation to the second question i'm also thinking of buying a 16v engine for the 99. In combination with sound isolation will it be as comfotable as a 900?? Sorry for my english and thanks in advance for answering one or more of the questions above.
