Don't know about the manual, but my 98 9-5SE auto has more than enough head-snapping acceleration for me: it has much greater performance than any of my previous 99's and 900's. In fact I have to be careful on slightly uphill starts as it will spin the wheels (only the V6 has traction control here in Oz). So far I've driven it in temperature ranges from 10 to 30 Degrees C and altitudes from sea level to 2000m and noticed no performance drop-off at all. The manual should give better performance than the auto, so if yours seems so bad (and unless you are a budding Michael Schumaker) I would suggest something could be wrong with your car. eg the Trionic may not be adapting and tuning the engine correctly, you may be using substandard fuel (it does need premium gas), the car may not be run-in yet, or you may even have the hand brake partly on :-) I would complain to your dealer and ask them to check the car under warranty. I would also ask for a comparison test drive with one of their demo cars, which should be run-in, just to verify if there is a difference. If I were you I wouldn't consider adding any performance enhancements until after you have had the car checked, and even then not unless Saab confirm that the enhancements don't void the warranty and don't affect reliability. Good luck. -- Regards, Peter Wilkins (wilkinspnopsamnet.au)
