JT, If your distributor cap has signe of pitting get a new one. I don't know what plugs you are using or the gap you have set. I would suggest .026. That was the gap on the factory plugs in my 83 900T, when I picked it up at the factory in Sweden. I used that gap setting for over 13 years and 251,000 miles. I used Bosch Platinums in that car without a problem. The 87 900S 16V that replaced used a gap of .028. My current 87 9000S 16V ran like a champ with the .028 gap. Now I run the Bosch Platinum +4 plugs. The part number is 4418. My Saabtech friend uses them in his 87 9000T 5 spd. Make sure all of your vaccum hoses are tight. The last two things you may want to check are the AIC valve or the MAF. My Saabtech friend just replaced the AIC on his. The hydrocarbons were to high to pass the emissions test.
