Greetings to the SAAB Community. Having received advice in the past on such items as airbag disconnection , V6 engine pedigree and rear fog lights, assistance is being requested again on radio problems. We have two 9000's. The 92 HATCHBACK has the original factory radio and provides excellent long distance AM reception. The 95 CDE also has the original factory radio and provides weak AM reception. We have alternated driving the two vehicles over the same route and noted that upon leaving the metropolitan area, the AMsignal strength in the 95CDE diminishes rapidly. The AMsignal is soon overridden by the noise level.Adjusting the sensitivity from DX to LO and/or reverse does not help.Of course the FM performance is outstanding. Our previous SAABs have been either 900's or 9000's hatchbacks. Their radios have pulled in the AM stations up to 150 miles daytime. The 95 CDE is not doing it. Could it be the shape of the CDE changing the antennae pattern? Is there a higher internal noise level in the CDE radio? Any advice or suggestions would indeed be appreciated. Resp'y Rod
