Dear Dave, I recently replaced all my shocks on my 85 900T16 and noticed knocking noises and a loose feel to the steering at motorway speeds. I then noticed that the rubber mounts 'doughnuts' were flexing when I pushed the car up and down. I removed the top nuts and put some washers under them to squeeze them a bit more -result - no more knocking noises and no more slopiness to the steering. The OE Saab doughnuts have metal inserts to make them stiffer. Johann
