Subject: Re: Some 900se questions

I have a '98 900 Turbo S coupe. I guess that I am used to sportier feeling cars. I really don't find it all that fast, except that the power is pretty broad band. I do a bit of traveling and end up in a lot of American made rental cars and am always dissapointed to return to my sluggish, heavy feeling, under-steering saab. I always feel like I am driving a car designed in the 80's. Like it would have been a great car 15 years ago. Sometimes I wonder while lurking in this group, if people here get out much and drive other new cars. Compared to an entry level American mid-size, the ride is very rough, the road noise extreme, and the steering loose and sloppy, with way to much body roll. For a car with 17,000 miles it has a lot of creaks, moans and other eccentricities. As far as amenities/ luxury goes, it is not that well equipped for a $28,000 car. The rear shocks were replaced at 15,000 miles because they were defective, the doors don't really fit that well, and the windows rattle. That sort of thing I would expect with any new car. The biggest problem I have with it is the immense blind spots. Also, I used to live in Louisiana, and the air conditioner just wasn't powerful enough ( the dealership there told me that was the number one reason why they didn't sell a lot of them. Number 2 was there poor performance / life span in hot, humid climates). Other than that, I am shamelessly drawn to the beast and the Viggen and the Aero are tops on my next new car list... go figure.
