I understand that this is to prevent the rear fog lamp from being confused with a brake lamp; they are of similar intensity, and if they were on both sides of the vehicle, they might be confused. By having only one rear fog lamp, the chance of confusion is lessened. If only American car makers would take that idea to heart, and not only introduce rear fog lamps, but make sure that turn signals use seperate lamps in different positions from the brake lights... and preferably make them amber as well... -- Rob Levandowski roblnopsamhiz.com
