D, I had the same problem on my '86 9000. More than likely the heating element grid has broken some where in the seat. The quick way to check is to hook an ohm meter to the connector at the bottom of the seat, sit in the seat, and check for continuity. Circuit should be closed when sitting. If not the grid is broken.
