Subject: Question about antilock brakes

Here's the story... Years ago I used to drive a taxi in NYC and although I was a very fast driver and somewhat reckless I was very alert and had few things happen in the approximately 500,000 miles I accumulated doing that. However, one day I was passing through a just turned green light at about 30 mph and a guy ran out from in front of a truck. We both saw each other but neither of us could stop. He was smart enough to jump onto the hood of the taxi while I started into a side turning skid that eventually placed the car in a 90 degree position from the original direction where he then just practically "stepped" off by the drivers door completely uninjured. This may be hard to envision from this description but it was an instinctive thing to do and saved us both from heartache. I don't feel like wrecking nor abusing my new Saab testing if I can do this in an extreme situation since I drive very gently, other than speed. If not, I can imagine that in that type of situation the man would have ended up crashing into the windshield or going over the top likely resulting in injury. Is it possible to send a Saab with antilock brakes into a side skid if needed?
