Simon; If you are only experiencing a noise, chances are the pin has worn the clutch pin hole in the clutch pedal and master link, from a round to oblong hole. This is extremely common in the 900 series cars, and very easy to detect. Grab the pedal with your hand and see how much free play you have in the linkage before it will hydraulically actuate. If it is more that 1/4 " than this is your problem. You can either just replace the pedal, with an updated unit that is fitted with a bushing, or replace the master as well, you must choose your course of action depending on the severity of the play. You should be able to just lubricate the pin and hinge to eliminate the noise, however, if the linkage is worn you are causing unnecessary wear on the trans due to the fact that the clutch plate is not fully disengaging...
