Subject: Re: Saab 9-5 wagon vs. V70 Volvo

Reliability? Well sometimes you have bad luck. My family is very VOLVO minded. I am the only one who is not. (Anyway I like the S-70/V-70 series very much). I am SAAB minded. My family drive VOLVO for more than 25 years. I am a SAAB driver. I had a SAAB 99 - problems - some with the clutch and gear-box. I drove a SAAB 9000 CDE. Problems - none! The car was extremely reliable. Never had a problem. When I got my SAAB 9000 - my parents bought a brand-new VOLVO 740. That was in 1992. And I have to admit one thing - if I had the same problems with my SAAB as they had with their VOLVO, I would have been very disappointed in one of the 'best cars' in the world. Anyway, the problems they had with VOLVO strengthened my choice. The SAAB was that reliable that my boss (drove a 1 year old Mercedes 300 Turbo Diesel - well and the problems he had ....you just would not believe it.) informed for a SAAB as well. But because SAAB does not have Diesels in the 9000 - he bought a Chrysler. So - you have to have some luck. And of course, what problems do you accept from a car, and which you do not. No car is perfect. And a lot of the problems can be caused by your own way of driving and handling. For me - my choice is easy. Even after driving a lot of miles in a V-70, and have grown up in a 'VOLVO-familiy' - I will go for a SAAB - no question! thomas einstein wrote: > I have a 1990 Volvo wagon, and a 1992 saab 9000. > The Saab is a great car when everything works.
