Hi, During our drive to Washington DC, a faint noise developed at the left front end. Sounds like a creaking shock. I wasn't driving at the time, but my spouse felt the steering wheel pulling at the time when the rattle got worse. We pulled into a garage where they checked shocks, bushings, bearings, joints - but the guy didn't find anything. No noise during the test drive, some noise during the rest of the trip but the fierce rattle didn't come back though. Even when rattling, it came on and went off. Still - we've got a 900 km return route to drive. Mmmh. Questions: 1 - what could it be? Patient data: '84 900 non-turbo 8 valve. 155.000 km odo. Half year ago the bearings were replaced on both sides. Nothing more to describe apart the things mentioned. What's the risk of things falling off or breaking down over the next 1000 kms (600 miles)? 2 - any mechanics to recommend in Washington DC or vicinity? Any to stay away from?
