I noticed no difference in performance in the 400 or so Km before I refilled with premium. Our premium here is only 96 RON anyway, so middle 90 octane is fine - it's what I use all the time! I asked the Saab dealer about it, and they said the trionic system would adjust so the engine ran OK on the lower octane rating, but it would have a bit less power and a bit poorer fuel consumption. They also said that the premium is a much cleaner fuel and less likely to cause trouble with filters, pumps and injectors etc. Only problem is that standard here is around 69 c/litre, premium around 86 c/litre. -- Regards, Peter Wilkins (wilkinspnopsamnet.au)
