It would be imposible to mate a V8 to the Saab tranny.  This is do to the
unique mating of the two.  The tranny serves as the oil pan for the engine. 
Engine conversions have been done to Saab's.  Several large engine rear wheel
drive funny cars have been made. In reality this is more a situation of puting
a Saab body on another car, than modifying a Saab.  Go to Saabnet.com and do a
few searches. A used Saab engine can be had for under $500. If the car is a
Turbo, you can have a lot of fun tweaking it.
