Maybe you could get the in dash CD player as well. I have both, and I would trade the combo for anything. Also, I had the same problem that you have with skipping on the in trunk unit. It ended up being the connector on the unit itself, instead of the player. Warranty took care of an exchange though. Worst case if you don't trade it out, is a head realignment at a cost of about 100 bucks.
