Subject: 94 900S and rear wheel bearings

Is it possible to ajust the rear wheel bearings on a 94 Saab 900S. It looks to me that the bearings are tightened to hard. If I jack up the card and give the lh wheel a hard spin it will only rotate one, at most two times. The rh wheel does not have this problem, it just keeps on spinning with 10-20 times less friction. I removed the caliper and break disc, still the wheel wouldn't spin properly. The odd thing is that there is no strange sound, or any heat generated by the bearing during normal driving. Neither is there any signs of wear like slack. Opening the cap at the end of the rod/bearing didn't help me either. The only thing I found there was some wiring and a strange looking toothed wheel. Could that be the adjustment wheel? Looks a bit tiny to me, and definitely would require a tool I do not have. Any suggestions? Do I have to replace the bearing or is it just a quick adjustment job? -- Johan
