My 9000 CSE 2.3 Turbo - which has now covered over 85,000 miles since I bought it new in 1993 - still regularly averages 33-34 miles/Imp. Gallon overall in summer, falling to 30-31 mpg in winter. I do mostly in-town driving (Aberdeen, Scotland) combined with a relatively traffic-free drive of 10 miles to and from work. Nowadays do approx. 10,000 miles per annum only in this car. On a longer distance regular journey of 250 miles (Aberdeen to Beauly and back), setting cruise control at 60 mph wherever possible, I can guarantee it will routinely return 38-39 mpg. It is a superb engine - still smooth as silk, and the best car I have ever owned!
