Just to add my 2c to this argument... I've got a Pontiac GTP with an "inferior" design engine... pushrod V6... supercharged. Honestly... I love the car dearly and the power is nice... but I find my Saab with its turbo 4 is an absolute riot to drive... handles better... feels smoother... and has a wonderful punch on the highway that the GTP is really lacking. I'm not dissing the GTP at all... or the engine (which I still love the design of despite being a 37-year old design)... I just feel that my Turbo'd 4 in the Saab is a much nicer engine. Weight distribution is MUCH better with that lighter engine... and it sounds like nothing else on Earth when pushed. Also... well... I'm one of those people who finds the body design of the Saab VERY appealing.
