If you are talking about the throttle valve here, all you need to do is remove the clips holding the rubbers around the Air mass meter(so as to give good access) then using a can of carb cleaner and an old tooth brush, clean the valve, you should turn the valve by hand(from the outside of the inlet manifold) so as to get at the underside and edges, this valve should be clean enough to eat your dinner from!! otherwise you can have all sorts of problems.
