Congratulations, you have one of the no-additional-cost options included in your Saab when they chose GM as the supplier for the steering rack. It is called "morning sickness". Without going too nitty, the seals in the rack are harder than the metal against which they rub, so it causes metal wear. When cold, the fluid goes right around the seals, so there is no power assist. In some cases, the seals can be replaced. As I understand it, in most cases the rack replacement is the solution. If you do replace the rack, be sure to get one which has been remanufactured and sleeved with stainless steel. Dick in Falls Church 85 900T
