The rack is worn - very common on the early models. If it just stiff for the first couple of turns and then it free's up and behaves normaly you can probably live with it, if however it persists and you get stiff spots in the steering you should do somethng about it immediatley as its downright dangerous. The only solution is to have it changed - don't wast your time with additives and the like. Recon racks are about £150 - £200 but its a very messy job doing it yourself. Good luck John
