Subject: Re: Battery life question

According to Consumer Reports (11/99 issue), nearly all batteries sold in this country are made by four manufacturers: - ACDelco (ACDelco and some Autostarts) - Exide (Exide, NAPA) - GNB (Champion and some Autostarts) - Johnson Controls (Autozone, Everready, Everstart, Interstate, Motorcraft, and Sears) CR says that in Group Size 65, by far the best-performing battery is the Motorcraft (Silver BXT-65-850), followed by the Delco (Professional 65-7YR) and then the Sears DieHard (Silver 31625). These run in price from $70 to $99. CR's recommendation is to buy a battery from an auto service center (Goodyear, Firestone, Sears, etc.) because they tend to have a large, fresh inventory and relatively low prices.
