Mine (6 months old and 8000km on the clock) is a great car and >is bullet-proof so far. My 9-3 is five weeks old. I picked it up in Trollhattan on Nov. 3 thru the IDS program. So far, while still in Europe, we somehow have managed to drive slightly more than 6000 km. Of course, coming down from Sweden contributed close to 4000 km. This is a Canadian model, with the 185hp turbo engine. We plan to have it shipped from Antwerp initially to the US and eventually we'll take it back to Canada. But before that, some more traveling. Around Christmas, we should go from Poitiers where we are at the moment to the back country above Nice. Then eventually to Brussels, probably thru the mountains although we'll have to see which passes are open at this time of the year. >Oh BTW: take the ACC if you can, it is very efficient. And the AC manual >knobs tend to break... Not available on the Canadian non SE model. And I don't find the price difference between the S and SE all that convincing for what you get. OK, 205hp would be nice but 185 is plenty in a small car like the 9-3. We have not taken it higher than perhaps 210 km/h, on the freeway in Germany and at that point, aerodynamic noise gets very uncomfortable. And it starts getting a bit scary too. first time in my life to experience hitting a bird (it caught the front bumper - no damage; and it was pretty small), mind you not that fast, perhaps 180, which I find quite manageable. And anyway, experience with ACC on rental cars (mostly BMW 316/318i) left me unconvinced. Seemed like we had to get it down to 16C to get comfortable in warm weather but move it higher when it would get colder. And yes, we did find the IDS program very convenient. Especially if the alternative is rental cars and if you will need a new car upon return back home.
