Kevin, Generally the reason they are wired indepently (besides legal issues) is that typicallly they are used in extremely opposite circumstances. Fog lights (broad and flat beams) in weather conditions were high beams would reflect and glare back. High beams (narrow and high) for clear conditions were the need to see far ahead is paramount, fogs would be useless here. "Kevin H.
