Excuse me if I am stating the obvious but a clunk when reversing is usualy always the brake caliper on the early Saab - It wears where the caliper and yolk slide together. I have the same noise when the pads are getting thin. I stripped the caliper and copper grease the sliding parts and retaining spring which cures the problem for a while. Another solution if the wear is realy bad is to weld some metal on to the wear area on the yolk. Johm
