I have an 87 9000S with the 2.0L engine, but three thermostats in that short a period of time does not sound right. I just flushed mine and replaced the thermostat two months about. That was with about 35,000 miles on the one that was in there when I bought the car used. Make sure your system is thorougly flushed. I suggest you pre-mix your coolant with distilled water. Make sure you use a Saab thermostat, and the air hole in the top position, when installed. If you want to make a difference, buy a few gallons of distilled water and do a final flush with some before the refill. If you live in an area with hard water, minerals can wreak havoc in your cooling system.
