I have a 1987 and it is great. I'm in my thirties and if my son was sixteen years old I would let him get one. What I would do when my kids hit sixteen years old is. Call my insurance agent and ask him my rates for several cars. In your case you will need to know the exact year and model of your SAAB plus the year and model of the car that your parents wants you to have. In the insurance business your parents rate will go up because you're sixteen. The good news is the rate will go down some when they add another car to their policies and the older the car the cheaper the insurance. Also, they don't have to get full coverage on your car. This means, that if you have a wreck in it your car will not get repaired unless you pay for it. This does not apply if someone hits you. The insurance agent should be able to tell you which cars to stay away from. For example, my agent told me to stay away from Nissan Maximum. The reason is, Nissan puts the same engine that they put in their 300ZX into their Maximum. Therefore, the insurance rate for a Maximum will be the same as the 300 ZX (very high because it is a sports car).
