Subject: Climate control 93 9000CSE

Hi, I am having a problem with the climate control in my 93 9000CSE. As I was driving home this afternoon, the fan decided to start running at high speed. The only way to stop it was to raise the temperature to ~80 degrees F. As the fan kicked into high, the air conditioner kicked in. Since the system was on AUTO, it decided that the interior was to hot, and that it should cool things down. I read in the owners manual and it talked about a recalibration procedure. This procedure should be performed if the car looses electrical power, i.e. battery. I did replace the battery a few days ago. It states that you should push the AUTO + <=> buttons simultaneously. The procedure checks the system and displays an error code in the temp window if one is found. It also checks the functions associated with the buttons on the right hand side of the panel. I need to know how to start the procedure. Pressing the AUTO + <=> buttons does not do anything in my car. Am I doing something wrong, are the instructions for the procedure incorrect, or is my control panel to blame. Thank you Rich Maurin
