Subject: Re: 85 900 Turbo Questions

5speed: thatīs true- more exactly: put in R and back up fast and sharp some meters, the gear must stay in and may not pop out, same in the 1st forward. Start the car and look at the rpm, it should be at 700-800 right after starting, not moving between 1200 and 500 (AIC valve or vakuum leaks). After starting the engine cold, be so kind and let the engine warm up before accelerating fast, temp. indicator at least 1/4 to 50%...(thanx form the turbo) When driving, accelerate fast, look at the APC indicator, it should meet the yellow/red boarder (pedal to the floor, at least it should be 3/4 into yellow) and when depressing the clutch abrubtly right after accelerating the engine may not stall and run smooth on 800rpm. Donīt shift when wheels spin, transmission is sensible. Very often (also on new cars) the front hydraulic engine rest is shot (I donīt know if an ī85 has already installed them) that causes the engine to move up under load and the tubes and everything else suffer. Check power steering rack, often oil there. Shock absorbers will be worn (every 60.000 miles) If everything is ok you should do the 0-60miles easy faster than 9sec.
