<Snip> Sounds like bad wiring / engine harness / Connectors / earth connections to me, I would suggest you find a competent Auto electrician to check it out if you don't feel like having a go your self. It could be that some part of your instrument panel is grounding through the temp warning light and as the resistance of the sensor changes with temperature the light starts to glow. If as you say the temp gauge is ok and the engine is not showinga nay signs of running hot the ultimate solution is to remove the bulb!!
