I'm afraid that it's all to do with the cars shell strength, Most modern hatchbacks, Golf, Vectra, Skoda, Renault all have this. It's to get the strength up, plus deal with all the crash legislation. I would buy a 9-5 estate - if I could afford one. My brother got one recently and it goes like stink, although to me it feels more cramped than my trusty and not too rusty 1986 900i and 1991 900i Yeap I am in the pre-crumblie forty something stage of life, although my wife insists i'm still going on twelve!!!
