CDs burned on my Memorex IDE burner have worked fine both the 635 changer and also in the 9-5 dash mounted CD changer. Have you tried different brands of CDR? Some are more reflective than others. I have used successfully Memorex, Maxell, Imation, CMC, TDK and Sony as well as a bunch of no-name unbranded ones.
