Subject: Re: Any experience with Turbo rebuild kits???

I would check the wastegate and APC etc before condemning the turbo itself, if a turbo gives up it usually does it in a big way, e.g. shattered turbine, lots of smoke etc, as you don't have those symptoms the turbo itself may be OK. As for rebuild kits, if you have the equipment to balance the turbine after re-assembly, then go ahead! Personally I would buy a recon unit before attempting to repair one, then at least if the compressor turbine disintegrates and embeds itself into the top of the pistons you have some comeback.
