I think that the way the wiring is, the parking lights only come on alone when the car is off, and the switch is in that position. If you put the switch in either position when the car is running, the headlights come on. This should be true for all NG900's 9-3's and 9-5's. I don't know if it is a Swedish or European thing, but driving with just the parking lights might be either illegal or improper, so they designed the car so you can't do it. The "parking lights" are wired only for parking.
