There was rust over everything in the trunk ! From the back of the car, just behind the bumper on the right side, there is a plastic vent that is about 2"high and 8" wide. THis vent is supposed to be the flow-through ventilation and has small rubber flaps that allow air to pass. The plastic frame of this vent warps from heat and age and pulls away from the body allowing water running off the rear hatch to run into the trunk. I cleaned around it and ran a bead of clear silicone around it and have not had any problems since. I have seen this identical problem on two other Saabs of this vintage. JC
