The 87 900 turbo I'm thinking of buying is burning oil. The owner says Saab mechanic told him it needed rings, and the job would be $600. I called my mechanic and he said rings are RARELY the problem. What else can cause oil smoke to come out upon acceleration? Question: should I try to fix the otherwise beautiful manual 87 turbo, or should I take the strong engine out of my aging 83 automatic turbo with the bad transmission (this job is about $600 as well, I'm told) and put it into the 87 Turbo? Thanks, Paul Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
