I have an old 9000 Turbo with automatic transmission. My opinion is, don't buy automat gears without Turbo. I have second (automat) gear box and typically it lasts about 200 000 km. Last summer my air conditioner's compressor brokes. Unfortunately it is hard to find suitable old parts. Newone costs about 6500 FIM + other parts, freon and works (10000 FIM). I also renew my motor antenna, it is cheap. Earlier I had 900 Turbo with manual gears. The gear box works fine, until 258 000 km gear 2 drops sometimes if I accelerate strongly. The gear box in 900 and 9000 is distinct, but I have not other experience. You ask also about Turbo, mines is running over 340 000 km and it works fine. Old cars are quite often rusty. The door construction is changed a little since1989 or 1990 and those are not so sense to became rusty. You talk about 250 000 km droven car, those are not so old. I guess it is 1993-1994. And as I told, turbo is necessary others are like toys :-). Automatic with turbo has good performance.
